Dublin City Council’s Bikeweek Safe Cycle is set to pedal off from Grand Canal Quay, Dublin 2 on Wednesday June 15th assembling at 12 noon to embark on a mass ride along 5km of city streets. Cyclists will depart at 12.30pm for the fun and safe leisurely cycle with An Garda Siochana assistance to stop traffic along the route. The 5km cycle, which starts and finishes on Grand Canal Quay, should take approximately 20 minutes to complete. Cyclists can pre-register for the event on the Bikeweek Safe Cycle Facebook page facebook.com/BikeweekSafeCycle and be in with a chance to WIN bike shop vouchers.
Bikeweek Safe Cycle will see participants depart Grand Canal Quay and take in Grand Canal Street, Bath Avenue, Londonbridge Road, Church Avenue, Sean Moore Road, Pigeon House Road, York Road, Thorncastle Street, Bridge Street, Ringsend Road to finish on Grand Canal Quay. With a strong emphasis on safety, cyclists will be escorted along the route but participants will be responsible for their own safety and remain subject to the Rules of the Rules and all applicable legislation under the Road Traffic Act.
Every year Dublin City Council organises a cycling event as part of National Bike Week. The event promotes cycling in the city and show cases Dublin as a cycle friendly city.
